Garden Greens: Get to Know the Award-Winning, Family-Owned and Female-Founded NJ Cannabis Cultivator

Since March, Garden Greens have taken New Jersey cannabis consumers by storm with a low-key dispensary presence and some strains of bud (2024 Dispensary Award Show – Strain of the Year Z Pie, anyone?) we’ve had trouble keeping on shelves thanks to you. “We are overwhelmed by the community response to Garden Greens, and we are simply floored by the warm welcome consumers have given to our products in the NJ market,” says Garden Greens Brand Manager Joe LoRusso.

We spoke with Joe more about Garden Greens, building a cannabis team and future brand plans…

From Fresh Produce to Jazz Cabbage

Garden Greens, backed by a four-generation family-owned farming operation in Vineland, brings over 100 years of agricultural expertise to NJ cannabis cultivation. To ensure the transition into cannabis was a success, they’ve recruited some of the sought after cannabis experts like General Manager, Joshua Krane. Joe explains, “It made sense for us to apply as an extension of our existing farming and processing operations. In reality, we also knew what we didn’t know (i.e., that Cannabis and Lettuce are not the same things), so we worked to identify the best available talent to join our Garden Greens team.”

The Garden Greens’ Trifecta

Garden Greens current has three brands: Garden Greens, Garden State Banana (a NJ x CA collaboration) and Pete’s Farmstand (inspired by founder and great grandfather Pete Dandrea’s original market stand). While their flower brands are the big hits so far, their pre-roll brand Pete’s Farmstand, “utilize(s) simpler packaging and spend(s) no money to market Pete’s to help ensure that it stays a value-minded product. Our goal is to keep Pete’s ‘surprisingly smokeable’ while ensuring prices stay affordable.”

“The most feedback we received as we were forming the company was that the quality and strain selection consumers were facing in NJ were a bit of a letdown. So, first and foremost, we strived to ensure that the quality of what we grow exceeds the current bar”

Garden Greens is currently expanding their strain lineup, adding multi-pack pre-rolls and working to obtain their manufacturing license. On the horizon: solventless rosin, vapes, and infused flower products. Stay tuned for exciting updates!

You won’t find Garden Greens in every dispensary. They team up with select New Jersey dispensaries like Pure Blossom to introduce their latest strains and your favorites. Says Joe, “we were looking for independent dispensaries that understood our passion for cannabis and were a fit with the culture of our team and our products. After passing a bit of a vibe check, we selected the partners that we felt would give us the most geography covered so that we can best serve NJ in total.”
